Summary of Interview 080827A with Anonymous
Janchiv has a four year education. After finishing elementary school, he looked after the livestock of his parents, who were herders. In 1956, his family joined a collective farm. Janchiv started to work in the collective farm in 1960. After finishing a medical course in Arhangai, he worked in a hospital as a nurse for ten years. After that he was a cattle counter in a collective farm and then a camel herder. He retired in 1995.
Janchiv tells about a broad range of topics in great detail: his jobs as a nurse, a camel herder and a livestock accountant, the hospital where he worked, camel breeding, the subjects that he studied in elementary school, the cultural campaign, and privatisation. He says that thanks to the cultural campaign society became not only more hygiene conscious but also got rid of venereal diseases. Specially appointed medical brigades were sent to the country-side each year from 1958 to around 1966. In the socialist period he could not choose job, but was appointed to one.
