Summary of Interview 080827B with Anonymous

Although Janchiv thinks that in principle democracy was a correct choice, he says that it brought with it many negative things. For example, the degradation of morality, widespread alcoholism and disorder are all products of democracy. Today people talk more about their rights and entitlements and less about their duty. Democracy has also a destructive nature: all factories that had been built in the socialist period were destroyed during democracy. Janchiv did not support the democratic movement from the outset.

His story about the socialist period include the following: people respected their seniors, ordinary people did not go abroad, trade with China stopped in 1962 when Sino-Soviet relations deteriorated, and goods came mainly from the Soviet Union.

Other topics that Janchiv shares his views about are climate change, desertification in his aimag, and toponyms. His observation is that today hills are being named after people who camp in the vicinity.
