Summary of Interview 090520B with Tsermaa
Tsermaa guai was born in 1928, seven years after the victory of the revolution. Life was really hard in her childhood and only about ten ‘ails’ had a somewhat better life in the sum and the rest served them. They lived in extreme poverty. During the repressions the rich and people in high positions and the lamas were victimized whereas the poor and destitute people were affected greatly by the evil consequences of it. During the cultural campaign much attention was paid to make the destitute people clean and neat and giving them an education
Before revolution the women were men’s slaves and household servants and after revolution the women’s condition improved slightly. With the coming of democracy the women have started to engage themselves in everything but lately this situation is being changed a little. In fact, the women have always borne the burden of household work, the children’s upbringing and other work.
In the socialist period the people were appointed to work after graduation and industrialization was developed well.
Speaking about privatization, Tsermaa said the people who had started democracy have promptly participated in the privatization process and a few people have acquired the all core sectors.
The city planning issue is becoming very complicated and the people carrying out the work should be thoughtful otherwise there’s the problem of the deterioration of long sightedness and acquiring lung disease [from increased pollution].
It’s a good thing that democracy has emerged but it’s regretful that all the buildings of the previous generation have been destroyed and violated. In the socialist period we had the authority based on compulsion, but today we have authority based on money.
Tsedenbal guai was an amazing leader who was aware of the life of the commoners. He was discerning and he could talk with anyone in a simple and pleasant way.
