Summary of Interview 090605B with Algaa


At the beginning of the interview she talked about the 1990 democratic movement. She had expected justice and openness from democracy but it didn’t live up to the expectations. She concluded that careless misappropriation of the socialist factories during privatization was an error. She also talked about industrialization and the life and work of the industrial workers.


She also talked about the people in authority of the socialist period. The leading workers followed the principles of wearing a tie, having ironed clothes and shined shoes and not wearing casual clothes at work, not chewing gum, and the ordinary people, they were tolerant and modest. She also mentioned that during the socialist regime a lot of attention was paid to the issue of marital stability, and she also talked about how the ordinary people had communicated with foreign countries.


At the end she briefly mentioned the newly introduced techniques and technologies in the socialist period. She works as a coordinator at the 9th horoo of the Bayangol District and at the same time she does voluntary work at the Red Cross Association. She also talked about the changes in funeral rituals.
