Summary of Interview 090707B with Norjmoo
In the first part of the interview she talked about industrialization and how the people were employed at the factories and the life and work of the industrial workers. The people in authority and leading officers of the socialist period communicated in the imperative form and their words were followed by the ordinary people in a patient way.
She also mentioned how the ordinary people communicated with the foreigners. When she was small some Polish and Hungarian people worked at the Harhorin hydro-power station and she also said that during socialism people who had achieved success in work were sent abroad to travel. She also talked about the family life in the socialist time and the activities of the non-governmental organizations.
Towards the end she mentioned she had been working as a veterinarian in the countryside during democracy. Since she was a Revolutionary Party member she didn’t take part in the democratic process. She concluded the democracy didn’t bring great changes in Mongolia. She also talked about the new techniques and technology that had been introduced in the agricultural sector in the socialist period. She talked about the changes happening in the city, nature and environment since she came to live in the city in 1997.
