Summary of Interview 091001A with Dulamsüren

Dulamsüren Bat was born on March 8, 1945 in Hairhan hill, Aldarhangai negdel in Sereglen sum of Töv aimag. Her childhood was spent with her parents and after graduating nursing college in 1963 she worked at Sereglen sum hospital of Töv aimag. At that time nurses visited their patients by riding a horse. Also, disposable syringes were not available at that time, so they used non-disposable syringes by boiling them in water and also tablets were not available, so they used powdered medicines, packed in paper according to dosage. After working 9 years in Töv aimag’s hospital, Dulamsüren moved to the children’s hospital of Nalaih district as a nurse. Dulamsüren worked in total for 43 years in the health sector.

After having her first child in 1966, Dulamsüren gave a birth to 5 children in total and was awarded 2nd grade honored mother’s medal in 1977. Her husband was a best worker of the year and went to Russia to see the Olympics game in Moscow in 1980.

Her father was a lama and arrested due to the great repression [of the 1930s], so she left with her mother when she was 2 years old. That’s why she grew up without knowing anything about her father. They haven’t heard anything about him after the arrest.

Dulamsüren talked about her life.
