Summary of Interview 091016A with Batdelger
Note: This is a combined summary of interview parts 091016A and 091016B
Batdelger was born in 1966 in Tsahir sum of Arhangai aimag. Tsahir sum situated at the furthest periphery of Arhangai aimag was been disbanded in the socialist period and after 20 years in 1993 it was re-established.
Batdelger is fond of literature and maybe it was because he had been hearing folk-tales from his grandparents in his childhood. While still in secondary school he wrote poems, news and reports, and he even sent them to Moscow radio. In 1984 he studied in the Soviet Union and qualified as a Russian language teacher. It is very interesting to know what the countryside life was like at that time. In order to have some fresh meat soup they had to have a paper signed by the collective darga and get a young sheep. It is also interesting how they prepared the firewood.
There are young leaders everywhere who take active part in the reforms and revolution. Batdelger is one of those who made the democratic wind breathe in the countryside at the end of the 1980s and the beginning of 1990s. It is harmful for the people, for the development of the nation and the economics to be too politicized. He has talked clearly about the 40,000 flats that were going to be built in Arhangai aimag but the project was stopped and also about other incidents that had obstructed the implementation of the project.
It is said, Arhangai aimag has been flourishing in the socialist time just like the name of its center Tsetserleg (which means 'garden'). Unfortunately, due to the wrong conduct of the privatization process everything has been done away with and the ranks of the unemployed have increased. All about this can be found in Batdelgerās interview.
