Summary of Interview 091019A with Ravjir
Military service under socialism made a person patient and it taught many things. You can find out about it from Ravjir’s interview. He has served for three years in the military.
Until he retired, Ravjir worked as an agent (agent - a traveling store). He loaded the cow and horse carts with various goods and foods and traded with them visiting the ‘ails’ in the sums. He provided the people, the herders, with consumer goods and also he collected skin, hair and cashmere and handed them to the state. Every month in the four seasons he used to travel like that.
He worked as an agent for 15-16 years and in addition he drove the livestock to deliver them to Darhan, Hatgal and Tsagaan aral. Many hundreds and thousands of well-fed livestock have been driven from many aimags of Mongolia to the border of the Soviet Union. He has talked about it mentioning specific data. In 1959 at the time of flourishing of the collectivization movement, he voluntarily collectivized his cattle to the ‘Shine amidral’ (New life) collective of Chuluut sum.
