Summary of Interview 100504A with Luvsangombo


Luvsangombo Namjil was born in Hatanbulag sum, Dornogobi aimag in 1926. Hs parents gave him for adoption to another family, so he called his adopted parents as foster-parents. He studied at primary school from 1939-1945 and it was the time of the war between Russia and Germany. Luvsangombo joined the army in 1947 and served for three years. He started his work career as a bookkeeper at the collective and worked as a brigade head, bag darga, and senior agitator for about 20 years. After that he herded collective livestock from 1971-1990. He was awarded the State Champion at Herding twice and several times received a 5 wall-tent and 5000 tögrögs as an award. Luvsangombo was critical and said that many good things created during socialism were destroyed during democracy. For instance, he said that collectives, veterinary clinics, farms and so on were created during socialism and destroyed at the beginning of democracy. Luvsangombo is a herder, who spent most of his life herding.
