Summary of Interview 100607A with Dorj
In the 1940s initially only the children from poor families went to school and the parents were only concerned to make their children into good herders. Because it was war-time clothes couldn’t be found. There were few female schoolchildren in the school.
Religion was prohibited and the people were afraid of each other. The relatives of Dorj guai Gunaajav and Dashnamjil were repressed. They concealed the fact that they had been relatives.
The city was small and there were few people. The University student stipend was 250 tögrögs and it was used very carefully. Dorj guai recalled that it was very wrong to destroy the livestock records after the establishment of the collectives.
Dorj guai said that it could be observed that the Dariganga customs are gradually being lost.
Concerning the weather, rain and precipitations came on time and the grass and the plants were nourishing.
In the socialist period the people were principled and they kept strictly to schedules. Under the name of 'competitions' people strove to make the most products without wasting resources. The party members had superior advantages at work, and mostly herders and workers joined the party.
Many industrial plants that used to be in the aimag have all vanished. At that time many Chinese used to come and work. Russian specialists used to live in Dornod.
The privatization was carried out in a very incorrect way when the two (political) parties united and governed the nation.
