Summary of Interview 101112A with Tömröö
Tömöröö visited one Kazakh woman shaman when she practiced shamanism and he told her, “Anyway you have to be aware that there’s Allah heaven.” But when Tömöröö’s younger daughter died at the age of 16 from bone cancer, he visited one man in Ulaanbaatar to ask about his daughter. He said her death was connected somehow with the land and water. 'Then I had a thought in my mind, I have to worship both otherwise there’s no way', he said.
Tömöröö guai talked of the strict law of the Kazakhs that prohibits the woman from touching her husband, saying various useless things against her husband and respecting him. There isn’t much difference between the son and the daughter in the Kazakh family but the youngest son inherits a greater legacy from his parents. The Hovd Kazakhs use a hadag and milk when getting married, which shows that a Buddhist custom has penetrated their culture.
He also told about the strict and tough criteria that he has overcome to become a party member in the socialist period.
